The tang of red wine
blends with the taste
of cigarette
on her breath.
Her lips are moist
as she whispers
into his ear,
“You’re mine,”
before stepping back
and pirouetting away.
Her eyes flash with
want and mischief
and he follows her
down the hall,
to emerge from the cocoon
of this night
a better man than
the one that went in.
